Mercedes Benz Tuning 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 Turbo 4MATIC

Just last week we had the opportunity to tune a Mercedes-Benz C300. This Mercedes Benz tuning of a C300 4MATIC comes nicely equipped with the M274 4-Cylinder Turbo Engine that is surprisingly powerful and efficient. It’s quite impressive actually. The cars styling will also impress most Mercedes-Benz fans. It’s bold and really looks like the sport vehicle we’ve come to expect.

So the car is nice and the M274 is no slouch when it comes to power. The C300 Turbo boasts a whopping 241HP and 273 LB-FT of torque. That really is impressive for a 4-cylinder. We took it for a test drive and while we were impressed, we felt that we could improve it dramatically. While driving, we noticed immediately that there is a lag between the time you press the accelerator and the time that the turbo kicks in. When you’re driving in traffic, merging onto a freeway or just feel the need to put your foot down, you want to feel that power immediately and that was just the tip of the iceberg.

We took the Mercedes C300 back to the shop and started with the tune. While this is not our first C-Class tune, it was our first on the 2016. Like all Mercedes Benz tuning starts, we took the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) out and carefully opened it revealing the maze of circuit boards. The first order of business is to verify that the ECU is in working order and it’s very rare to come across one that’s not but we always like to err on the side of caution. The next order of business is to read the existing ECU programming with our specialized software. Once read, we always save the original ECU programming to our redundant systems just in case the owner ever needed to return to the stock values for whatever reason.

Now that we have the ECU programming backed up, we make a working copy and that’s where we start our magic. Years of experience and testing give us the ability to draw the most out of these engines without ever crossing the safe limit marker. We just make the car more efficient and that’s what Performance Perfect ECU Tuning is all about.

Now that we’ve built our file, it’s time to merge and write the file to the ECU. Our Mercedes Benz Tuning specialized race software and equipment make this a fairly easy process and within a few minutes all our previous work is written to the ECU. We reinstall the ECU into the car and close the hood. Next step is actually our favorite… It’s time for the test drive!

Now the Performance Perfect Tuned car has approximately 260HP and 300 LB-FT of torque and boy does it show! Driving in Sports Plus Mode, our immediate impression is that the turbo lag on the stock ECU is virtually eliminated. The turbo kicks in almost immediately and the additional boost from the turbo is quite evident. Simply put, the C300 4-Cylinder Turbo is immediately more responsive and the driver can feel the increase in power. This is true throughout the gearing whether starting from a dead stop or putting your foot down and accelerating away from 40MPH. Responsive and powerful, we’ve unleashed the potential. Ironically, we also expect an increase in gas mileage. This particular vehicle averages 23.2 miles per gallon and we fully expect a 5-8% increase. The car is just more efficient.

PRESSERtech ECU Tune SL Owners Meeting

We had a great day today at PRESSERtech. Two of our recent SL AMG customers stopped by at our little BBQ and we were able to compare notes on their two cars. The first, a gorgeous black SL65 AMG and the second, an equally gorgeous SL55 AMG. We talked about the performance upgrades and what they liked and didn’t like about the tunes. The resounding conclusion was that they just loved the new feel of their cars. Both were quick to tell us that there was an improvement in fuel consumption and both were recording an approximate 7-8% +/- increase.

Although the cars look the same, the tunes are totally different. The Bi-Turbo really takes some work but the single turbo SL55 is much easier. Both are tuned to bring out the best in each. These cars with a few years on them may look old on paper but they have a lot of life and excitement left in them. If you ask these owners, they’ll talk about their old SL and their new SL after PRESSERtech’s Performance Perfect tune. It always amazes us when we do these events. The owners talk about their cars in a whole new light. Gone are the days of “I have an AMG”, now its more of “can I tell you about my newly tuned car”. Certainly fun times for us at any PRESSERtech event.

These are mature men but It’s hard to explain how that’s possible when we watched them drive away. All we can say is enjoy. We’ll see you both at our next event.
